Leveraging Multi-omics Data to Identify Targetable Mechanisms In Rare Genetic Disease
Presenter: Valerie A. Arboleda MD, PhD (University of California Los Angeles)

July 27, 2018
Dr. Valerie Arboleda received her bachelors degree from Columbia College in the City of New York and completed the MD-PhD program at UCLA in 2014. She completed her residency training in clinical pathology, with a focus on molecular genetic pathology and leveraging sequencing tools for clinically-based testing.
Dr. Arboleda is an assistant professor at UCLA in the Departments of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and in Human Genetics. In her career, she has discovered novel Mendelian disease genes for multiple conditions and elucidated some of the underlying mechanism to these conditions. She is the recipient of the NIH Early Independence award (2017-2022) and her research lab studies mechanisms underlying rare neurodevelopmental syndromes that are caused by a set of genes that control the epigenome and chromatin through histone methylation and acetylation.
